Departure after breakfast for Aphrodisias which was named after Aphrodite, Goddess of Love who had here her unique cult image the Aphrodite of Aphrodisias. The city was built near a marble quarry and sculptors in marble from Aphrodisias became which made most famous in the Roman world. Aphrodisias was one of the foremost cities of the age surrounded by fertile lands producing all types of food stuff. Highly developed commercial, political, religious and cultural institutions, very fine tradition of arts and crafts, world famous schools of philosophy and sculpture also famed Aphrodisias. You will see Tetrapylon ( 4 Gate ) was the monumental gate of the city composed of four groups of columns. The stadium of Aphrodisias is the best preserved of all the ancient stadiums in the Mediterranean region, 262m in length, 59m wide with a seating capacity of 30 000. Odeon and Bishop’s Palace, Agora, Baths of Hadrian, Theatre. The museum of Aphrodisias is one of the most outstanding of Western Anatolia. The monuments of unsurpassed value which have been found at the excavations are displayed here. Please make a note that there will be a short shopping break during the tour where you will have the chance to see and buy some handmade traditional souvenirs to take back home with you. Once the tour comes to end, you will be taken back to your allocated points.
