Ground Zero Of History

The history of Șanlıurfa may date back to 9000 BC. “City of Prophets”, hometown of Abraham and is said to be the capital Ur of the Sumerians. Urfa, known as “Edessa” in antiquity is also considered to be a holy place for the Armenians since it is believed the Armenian alphabet was invented here.

Day 1
Transfer for flight Şanlıurfa. Meet at Şanlıurfa airport and transfer to hotel, check-in. Drive to Göbeklitepe, the oldest temple of the world. Built roughly 12000 years ago, 10000 BC, still remains a big mystery. Archaelogy and Mosaic Museum includes an Archeopark, Edessa Mosaics Musuem and an Archaeology Museum with 70.000 historical artifacts. Lunch at the Museum Restaurant offering tastes of regional cuisine.
Haleplibahçe Mosaics are defined as “the most valuable mosaics in the world”, dates back to the Paleolithic Age.
Holy Balıklıgöl, the sacred fish pond, Holy Cave where Prophet Abraham was borned and King Nimrod had him burnt.
Halil-ül Rahman Mosque, Ayn-ül Zeliha and many legendary stories. Dinner at hotel and overnight.

Day 2
Departure after breakfast and drive to the ancient town of Harran from the 3000 BC, famous for its distinctive local style architecture of mud-brick beehive houses with conic roofs.
Ulucami Ruins, where the first Islamic University stood, which raised world famed scientists, philosophers and astrologs. Return back to Şanlıurfa and transfer to the airport for flight to İstanbul.
