9 Days Tour
Day 1
Transfer to the airport for flight to Malatya. Meeting at Malatya airport and transfer to hotel. After quick check-in start for the city tour of Old Malatya. Dinner at hotel and overnight.
Day 2
Tour to Aslantepe Tumulus exposing examples of 8 layers from different cultures dating back to 6000 BC. Visit to Copper Market and Apricot Bazaar before lunch of regional tastes of Turkish Cuisine of Malatya. Drive to Nemrut Mountain (2150m.) to watch the magnificent sunset amongst the mass-stone statues unbelievably erected at the summit as monuments to the divine family of Commagene Kingdom. Back to hotel after sunset.
Day 3
Early wake-up and departure for the mountain to watch the most striking view of sunrise amongst the huge statues of gods. Descend to Kâhta, Adıyaman viewing Euphrates Arsemia, Drive over the Cendere Bridge on Chabinas Stream. KarakuşşTumulus, 35m. high mausole built by King Antiochoe I st of Commagene. Drive to Şanlıurfa, “City Of Prophets” at Upper Mesopotamia, visit Atatürk Dam on the way. Check in at hotel. Dinner and overnight
Day 4
Visit to Balıklıgöl (pool of sacred harp, wish-fish today) a site of pilgrimage. Drive to Harran, famed with conical roofed houses and the remains of the first Islamic University which raised world known astrologs, philosophers and scientists. Dinner at Şanlıurfa and overnight.
Day 5
Early morning drive to Mardin, Türkiye's linkway to Iraq and Syria. Afternoon tour visiting Dayr-ül Zaferan, the Syriac Monastery where 52 Syriac Patriarchs are buried. A shelter for the homeless. Holds an underground cellar from the 4th. century for secret worshippers. Kasımiye Medresah, the theological school, Kırklar Church, Town Criers Bazaar and Historical Post Office. Dinner at hotel and overnight.
Day 6
Early departure for Midyat, historic center of the Assyrians. Visit to State Guest House and Geluşke Caravanserai. Visit to Mor Yakup Monastery and continue to Hasankeyf connecting the Silkroad and the Kingsroad. Drive to Diyarbakır, Dinner at hotel and overnight.
Day 7
Departure after breakfast for Inner Castle with Süleyman Mosque and tombs of the 27 companions of Prophet Mohammad, Amida Mound, Artukanian Palace, Lions Fountain, St. George Church, Mor Petyun Keldani Church, Archaeological Museum, Atatürk Museum, Diyarbakır Castle, Hevsel Gardens. Free time at 450 years old Hasan Paşa Inn. Dinner at hotel and overnight.
Day 8
Hilar Caves at Çayönü, Dungeons, tombs carved into rocks and caravanserai with 7 pillars from 7500 BC. Egil, town of prophets, saints and kings. Visit to the Tombs of Prophets, Egil Castle and Kings tombs during the Boat Tour on Tigris River. Lunch by the riverside. Drive to Zerzevan Castle, 2000 years Border Garrison from Roman Period. The last Mithras Temple in the world. Return to Diyarbakır. A panoramic tour of the City Walls with defensive towers, underground sanctuary and water cisterns. Dinner at hotel and overnight.
Day 9
Visit Grand Mosque, the first mosque in Anatolia. Surp Giragos Armenian Church, Four Feet Minaret. Lunch at Hacı Halit Restaurant. Mardin Gate, Seven Brothers Bastion, Virgin Mary, ancient Assyrian Church, Dengbes House of traditional music. Transfer to the airport for flight to İstanbul.
